Joan Carolyn Friday Johnston, 72, of Brazoria, Texas passed from life on Friday, November 19, 2021 in Lake Jackson, Texas after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Joan was born on November 26, 1948, to Garlon and Winifred Friday in West Columbia, Texas. She attended Sweeny High School and Wharton Jr. College, where she attained her LVN certification. In 1967, she married Jerry Johnston and settled in West Columbia. She is survived by her two brothers, Robert and Charles (Joanne), her two children, Freddy Johnston and Judy Courts (Doug) and four grandchildren, Andrew, Sydney, Ross and Claire and numerous nieces and nephews. Joan is preceded in death by her husband, parents and infant daughter, Shirley.
Joan enjoyed life to the fullest. She traveled the world and lived abroad in Saudi Arabia and Holland. She enjoyed gardening, singing, dancing, gambling, fishing, and going to the beach, especially Sargent. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world.
Per Joan’s request, there will not be a traditional funeral service. She will be cremated and interred at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in West Columbia. All family and friends are invited to the celebration of Joan’s life Friday, November 26 at Dido’s Restaurant (2922 County Rd 519, Brazoria) from 2-5 P.M.
